Famed Chichén Itzá encompasses a massive pyramid, ball court and stone temples. While other Maya archeological sites include Ek Balam, noted for well preserved sculptures, and Uxmal, with its intricate carved facades.
And what about the Yucatán’s capital and largest city, Mérida, whose downtown was built on top the ncienta Maya city of T’ho, and turned into a Spanish colonial history featuring incredible buildings such as its 16th-century Cathedral, constructed with material taken from the Maya settlements there.
