Detained in Yucatán for extortion and threats to a merchant from Quintana Roo

A man accused of extorting and threatening a merchant from Quintana Roo was arrested in Mérida by agents of the State Investigation Police (PEI) of the Ministry of Public Security (SSP).

The detainee is identified as J.A.C.C., alias “El Chino”, who allegedly demanded money from the victim in exchange for not harming him or his family.

According to the investigation, the suspect contacted the merchant by phone and WhatsApp, claiming to belong to a criminal group and demanding a large sum of money.

The victim reported the situation to the authorities, who initiated an operation to locate and capture the extortionist.

The agents of the PEI managed to identify the phone number and the address of the suspect, who was located in a house in the San José Tecoh neighborhood of Mérida.

With a search warrant issued by a judge, the police entered the property and arrested J.A.C.C., who was found in possession of a cell phone and a firearm.

The detainee was transferred to the facilities of the SSP, where he was made available to the corresponding authorities.
