PROGRESO. — Yesterday, some 50 workers from a company began to place the platforms where the artists of the Progreso Sunset will perform, which will take place tomorrow Saturday starting at 5 p.m. on the west beach of this port.

On the beach, at the end of the international boardwalk with 102nd street, the workers also set up dressing rooms that the artists will use before and during Progreso Sunset, an event that, according to a bulletin the day before yesterday, the City Council will close “with a flourish the activities of these two weeks of vacation”.

In addition, the Commune announced that Sunset Progress is made in coordination with Smart Productions, which on Linkedin defines itself as a small, creative, and collaborative video production and post-production company located in Chicago and founded in 2007.

At sunset, at 5 p.m., the DJ Crew (from Cancun) will perform, at 7 p.m. it will be the concert of Zion and Lennox (from Puerto Rico), and the Closing Party will be the presentation of Fito Silva (electronic music DJ from Mérida). Admission will be free (only) in the general area.

Yesterday, fifty workers began to install the metallic structure of what will be the stage, as well as the lights and horns.

The employees put plywood on the sand to be able to move the metal structures.

Several workers said they have enough time to set up the stage and dressing rooms and have them ready tomorrow.

They indicated that the weather is good, unlike last February, when a north hit and the concert had to be cancelled.

According to the newspaper’s archives, the City Council first announced the Zion and Lennox concert for Carnival Saturday, February 11, on the west boardwalk, but that Saturday morning it was relocated to the main square and canceled in the afternoon. He said, due to the winds and rains from the north (from the cold front 31).

For that concert, tickets to enter the preferential area were sold in February for $1,035; to VIP area 1, for $1,722, and to VIP area 2, for $1,722, according to ticket photos shared on Facebook.

Just yesterday, personnel from the municipal Fisheries Department placed buoys in the sea, in front of the beach where the concert will take place, to delimit the bathing area and the anchorage area for recreational boats that will arrive to enjoy Progreso Sunset.

Good weather is expected this weekend. In the afternoons, winds from the Northeast of 30 to 40 kilometers per hour blow, which would not affect Progreso Sunset.

In this regard, the Extended Forecast to 96 hours, from the National Meteorological Service, says that tomorrow, Saturday in Yucatan, maximum temperatures of 40 to 45 °C are expected, isolated rains and wind with gusts of 50 to 60 km/h and possible dust storms.
