The Mayan Train will allow many communities to have a better connection with the rest of the southern areas of Mexico. The project includes five states of the Republic: Chiapas, Tabasco, Campeche, Yucatán, and Quintana Roo, which will be crossed in seven sections divided into 21 stations in strategic areas and 14 stops in regional communities.
How much will the Mayan Train cost?
So far it is unknown what the general prices of the Mayan Train will be, but it is possible that within a few months or weeks of its official opening the exact prices will be determined. The National Fund for the Promotion of Tourism has given some clues about the possible prices for foreigners, which are between 45 and 50 dollars, which in Mexican pesos are about 900 and 1,000 pesos.
However, it is known that the cost for the inhabitants of the area through which the Mayan Train will pass is more accessible, since they can use it as public transport, so the cost of a trip would be about 50 pesos for the locals, so in a round trip they would spend about 100 pesos.
What does the ticket to the Mayan Train include?
People who use the Mayan Train as a tourist destination will have access to different services on board such as restaurants, this would make the total price for foreign travelers increase between 100 and 200 dollars, which is close to 4 thousand Mexican pesos, depending on their services and the destination. However, these prices are not yet official.
With the Mayan Train, travelers can visit Playa del Carmen, Tulum, Yucatan, Campeche, Tabasco and Chiapas. Along the way, travelers will be able to enjoy an excellent view of the jungle and enjoy other amenities and comforts of the train.
