As of this Monday, the Municipal Police of Mérida launched the “Holiday Operation”, which will end on Sunday, August 27 and more than 90 percent of its agents will participate.
The purpose of this measure, according to the corporation, is to reinforce security and road measures, with the purpose of guaranteeing the tranquility of people who visit the Historic Center of Mérida.
With the forecast of an increase in vehicle flow during this period, road operations will be increased to prevent possible inconveniences on the roads and guarantee fluid and safe traffic.
In the “Holiday Operation” 380 elements of the 410 that the corporation has will take part. They belong to various operational areas, such as Citizen Safety, Roads, Paramedics, the Animal Protection Unit, Experts in Traffic Facts, Road Engineering, the Canine Unit and Tourist Police.
They will be distributed in multiple shifts to offer coverage 24 hours a day. In addition to that, constant patrols will be carried out at the Northeast bus terminals, Mérida Bus Station (CAME), Mérida Bus Terminal (TAME), Autoprogreso and Progreso combis, in order to guarantee the safety of travelers and prevent any incident.
They will also reinforce surveillance in residential areas within their jurisdiction with frequent patrols to prevent home robberies.
