According to projections made by experts, it is estimated that at least 35 people will lose their lives in road accidents in Yucatán this summer. This warning was given by the state’s traffic safety auditor, René Flores Ayora, who also pointed out that since the beginning of the summer season, 12 individuals have already lost their lives in road incidents.
Flores Ayora emphasized that the high number of vehicles on the roads increases the risk of accidents. “According to Big Data, algorithms, mathematical models, and statistics, 35 people will lose their lives on Yucatecan roads this summer. It could be me, you, a friend, a family member, or an acquaintance,” he said.
To avoid these tragedies, Flores Ayora urged drivers to exercise extreme caution and vigilance, as well as not to drive under the influence of alcohol. He also stressed the importance of wearing reflective vests when getting out of their vehicles and avoiding risky behaviors behind the wheel, such as texting while driving.
Statistics show that in the first 25 days of summer vacation, a total of 12 people have lost their lives, with 11 being motorcyclists and one being a pedestrian. “Each time you kill someone on a street, avenue, or highway, you’re killing them every day for the rest of your life,” Flores Ayora said.
