Visitors and locals at the Chicxulub Puerto fair were startled by a malfunction in a mechanical ride, which also raised concerns due to a serious prior incident.
The incident occurred on Tuesday night when everything was calm, as there weren’t many people present on a weekday.
Suddenly, a loud noise caught everyone’s attention, both traders and visitors alike.
Malfunction in the “Himalaya” or “Tornado” Ride
The sound came from a ride known as the “Himalaya” or “Tornado.” According to witnesses, it was operational when it started moving violently.
Apparently, it came off its tracks, causing a sudden jolt that affected two women who were enjoying the mechanical ride.
The “Himalaya” or “Tornado” emitted at least four loud sounds before operators could stop it in time to prevent further incidents.
The women quickly disembarked and left the ride, while the staff worked to inspect and resolve the issue.
Recalling a Serious Accident at a Chicxulub Puerto Ride
Other visitors watched the situation unfold, and some mentioned that this wasn’t the first time such a malfunction occurred. A similar incident happened during the Easter holidays.
The event surprised those present and especially worried locals, as many still remember a serious accident that occurred about 20 years ago.
On that occasion, one of the “flying chairs” was literally sent flying, resulting in severe injuries to a young woman.
