More than 750,000 people attended over the past year.
On Sunday, the 18th anniversary of Mérida’s Biciruta was commemorated, a program that has become a space for healthy family interaction, healthy practices, and an entertainment option for all ages.
The Sunday ride has also become a tourist attraction that increasingly draws more visitors to the city.
Since its creation in 2006, Biciruta has promoted values such as safety, peace, and sports, positioning itself as one of the favorite programs for both residents and tourists. In the 2023-2024 period, the program had the participation of 750,326 people in its Sunday edition and 642,235 in the night edition.
The anniversary event included the presentation of awards to the Biciruta guides, conducted by Technical Secretary Jesús Aguilar y Aguilar, along with other municipal authorities. The celebration concluded with the traditional cake cutting.
The Paseo de Montejo Biciruta, which covers 5.2 kilometers from La Ermita de Santa Isabel to the Monumento a la Patria, collaborates with the Public Security Secretariat and the Municipal Police to ensure the safety of attendees.
The program also includes the participation of 10 route guides, a first aid service, and around 100 young people doing social service, who support various activities.
