The Mérida City Council has announced the “Mérida 2025 Summer Courses” and “Summer Adventures” initiatives, designed to promote recreation, learning, and skill development for children aged 6-12.

According to Municipal President Cecilia Patrón Laviada and Jesús Pérez Ballote, Director of Human Well-being, the summer courses aim to provide children with a fun and enriching experience that fosters creativity, imagination, and teamwork. The activities will be held at various locations across the city, including sports complexes and comprehensive development centers.

The “Mérida 2025 Summer Courses” will offer four main activities: creative workshops in painting, crafts, and recycling; introductory sports such as soccer, volleyball, baseball, and basketball; educational talks on mental health, physical health, and values; and recreation and activation games, contests, and recreational activities.

Registration for the summer courses is now open at each location from Monday, June 30th to Friday, July 4th, from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Parents or guardians must present a copy of their child’s birth certificate and voter registration card (INE) as well as sign a letter of responsibility.

In parallel with the summer courses, the “Summer Adventures” program will be offered in 10 municipal libraries located across different Mérida districts and neighborhoods. The activities include painting workshops, crafts, and value-based activities, with a capacity for up to 30 children per location. Registration is also available from Monday, June 30th through Friday, July 4th at each library.

Both initiatives aim to engage children in fun and educational activities, promoting their growth and development while providing a safe and enriching experience.
