A recent report by the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (INEGI) reveals that Yucatán has experienced a significant increase in exports, surpassing other states in the country. According to INEGI’s Quarterly Exports by State (ETEF) report for the first quarter of 2025, Yucatán saw a remarkable 29.3 percent increase in export value compared to the same period last year.
Campeche and Quintana Roo, on the other hand, experienced a decline in exports. Campeche’s export value increased by 23.5 percent, but still ranked 14th in the country with $2.525 billion. Quintana Roo, however, saw a staggering drop of 53.8 percent, placing it last among all states.
The report also highlights that Chihuahua, Colima, Zacatecas, and Jalisco joined Yucatán in experiencing significant increases in export value. The five states with the largest increases in the value of their exports were led by Yucatán, followed by Chihuahua, Colima, Zacatecas, and Jalisco.
The total value of state exports reached $133.625 billion. Chihuahua stood out as the top exporter, accounting for 16 percent of the country’s total exports. Coahuila, Nuevo León, Baja California, Tamaulipas, and Jalisco also ranked among the top exporters in Mexico.
In terms of export value, Quintana Roo had the smallest amount, $5.2 million, making it the state with the fewest export resources in the country.
The report also notes that the value of state exports increased 3.6 percent on an annual basis, with manufacturing experiencing a 5.1 percent increase and mining decreasing by 11.1 percent. Agriculture saw a decrease of 5.3 percent.
INEGI highlighted that certain states experienced significant variations in their export values across different economic sectors. These included Tabasco, Oaxaca, Chihuahua, Yucatán, and Jalisco for manufacturing; Quintana Roo, Jalisco, Michoacán, Campeche, and the State of Mexico for agriculture; and Zacatecas, Colima, Coahuila, Baja California Sur, and Chihuahua for mining.
