Yucatán expects 75% of electoral participation

Merida Yucatan; June 02, 2021 (ACOM) .- The Yucatan Business Coordinating Council (CCE) reiterated the call to citizens to go to the polls to cast their vote, while also fighting for the process to develop calmly.

In a virtual press conference, the president of the organization, Fernando Ponce Díaz, said that the state has been characterized by high participation in the polls as well as by the tranquility that prevails during the elections.

“We invite citizens to go out and vote freely and in a massive way next Sunday, to comply with the health provisions that the authorities have established in the face of the pandemic that we are experiencing,” he said.

In that sense, the also local president of the Employers’ Confederation of the Mexican Republic (Coparmex) acknowledged that various incidents of violence occurred in communities in the interior of the State throughout the political campaigns, although he affirmed that this situation remains isolated.

“They have been issues that have been addressed but we want to reiterate that we are a state of peace and we are sure that there will be no major incidents,” he said.

In his turn, the president of the National Chamber of the Transformation Industry (Canacintra), Jorge Charruf, agreed that no major confrontations are expected while expressing the importance of Yucatán maintaining its 75 percent of participation on election day.

While the president of Canirac Yucatán, Roberto G. Cantón Barros, said that employers established protocols so that their workers can come to cast their vote despite working so that their right is guaranteed.

This same trend was confirmed by Eduardo Córdova Balbuena, president of Canapat, who remarked that the workers of the Mérida bus terminal will be able to go to vote without problem.

Representatives from public and private universities in Yucatan also participated in the event, who agreed on the importance of citizens going to the polls respecting health provisions in the framework of the coronavirus pandemic.
