Yucatán: Investors put their ‘eye’ on Umán and Kanasín for new logistics centers

In Umán and Kanasín they will locate two important logistics centers in Yucatán.

MÉRIDA.- The head of the Ministry of Economic Development and Labor ( Sefoet ), Ernesto Herrera Novelo, announced the arrival of two new investments to the entity for a combined amount of 70 million dollars (1,400 million pesos at the exchange rate yesterday), the companies will install their logistics centers related to the distribution of goods and services in the municipalities of Kanasín and in the Umán area.

Without mentioning the names of the companies, the state official announced that these international distribution centers will be destined for Central America and the south-southeast of Mexico.

“These investments are made with international resources, which Governor Mauricio Vila will be announcing within a month. One of them goes to the municipality of Kanasín, the other goes to the Umán area, in which the investment is very important, we are talking about a project for 40 million dollars and a second project for 30 million dollars, which generate a great number of jobs for both localities ”, he pointed out.

The state official added that these new investments belong to the logistics sector, which will allow this business segment to continue growing in the state and the region. The new investments that will reach the State are related to the logistics sector.

New investments in Yucatán 

Herrera Novelo announced that today the CEO of Invincible Boats, Thomas Wieners, will arrive in Mérida to supervise the progress of the yacht and catamaran manufacturing plant that is being installed in the port of Progreso, a company that already operates and has hired the first 100 workers.

He recalled that the investment of Invincible Boats is of one billion pesos and will generate 400 jobs, for the development of pleasure yachts, sailboats, and catamarans that will be exported to the United States, the Caribbean, and South America, where there is a great demand for these goods of high-end.
