The new Merida Bus route “Va y Ven” has a total of three types of stops that can be found throughout the route of the peripheral of Mérida as of this Saturday, November 27.
In social networks, images of different points where the whereabouts of this route are located have been published and they argue issues of inequality of bus stops, officials deny cñaims of any classism between the north and south of Mérida.
According to the head of the Institute of Mobility and Territorial Urban Development (IMDUT), Rafael Hernández Kotasek, there are three types of bus stops.
“Practically you are going to see three types of bus stops, some black metallic, others that are made of concrete only with the roof and there are others like those in Quetzatcóatl and Héroes to the east, Marist University to the north, which are a little bigger” replied the official.
The official explained that some are built with concrete structures, led lighting, bike ports, solar panels, and USB connectors to charge phones. The second design is metallic like those found in the interior of Mérida, while the third is where it only gave space for bus stops due to the current space.
“As the space expands, because many of these spaces are private, it is very likely that we can hope that most of the possible ones will be larger bus stops,” he added. This new route will provide service from this Saturday, November 27 from 5:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m., it will have 20 units with 34 stops inside and 35 outside the peripheral. With information from La Verdad Noticias
