Yucatan expects to receive more than 325 thousand cruise passengers during 2024

A total of 260,968 cruise passengers were received during 2023 at the Port of Progreso in Yucatan, a figure that represents an increase of 3.4 percent compared to the number of passengers received during 2022 when 252,224 passengers were received.

According to data released by the Ministry of Tourism Development (Sefotur) of the government of the state of Yucatan, from January-December 2023, 75 cruises arrived in Yucatan.

Among the cruises are several that arrived for the first time at the port such as the Sea Cloud Spirit, from the Sea Cloud Cruises line; Ruby Princess, from the Princess Cruises line and Serenade of the Seas, from the Royal Caribbean Cruises line.

In this sense, the agency projected that during 2024 more than 325 thousand cruise passengers are expected to arrive in the state.

According to current data, 55.7 percent of the cruises that will arrive in Yucatan will be from the Carnival Cruises line, which continues to be the largest operator of this segment in the destination, followed by Disney Cruise Line with 21.2 and Royal Caribbean with 10.6 percent.

The remaining percentage, that is, 12.5 percent corresponds to other lines Sea Cloud Cruises, Club Med Cruises and Margaritaville at Sea.
