The organization “Transportistas Unidos” has called for a nationwide strike on Mexican highways due to non-payment to suppliers of basalt rock for the construction of the Tren Maya.
This demonstration is scheduled for Friday, June 28, starting at eight in the morning.
According to the transporters, the national strike will include the presence of cargo units on sections 4, 6, and 7 of the Tren Maya.
In a statement, the transporters announced that there will be stoppages at the following locations:
– 20 trailer-type cargo units (gondolas) located at section 7 in Xul-Ha, Bacalar.
– 10 trailer-type cargo units (gondolas) located on Federal Highway 186 near C-4 on the Chetumal-Huay Pix road.
– 10 trailer-type cargo units (gondolas) located on Federal Highway 307 at the entrance to Tulum Airport.
Additionally, the mobilization of transporters is planned to cause closures at entrances to Mexico City, the Mexico-Cuernavaca toll booth, Mexico-Querétaro, Mexico-Puebla, Mexico-Pachuca, the Mérida-Cancún toll booth (near Chichén Itzá), and Cancún Airport.
It’s worth mentioning that the transport organization estimates a debt of 90 million pesos owed to basalt rock suppliers for the Tren Maya project.
