The week starts with strong rainfall over the Yucatán Peninsula.

- July 22, 2024

On Monday, a new tropical wave (No. 13) will enter the Yucatán Peninsula and interact with a low-pressure system over southeastern Mexico, leading to heavy rainfall in these regions; intense storms are expected in Chiapas, according to the National Meteorological Service (SMN).

Specifically, in the Yucatán Peninsula, it is forecast that the morning will be partly cloudy with a mild temperature. In the afternoon, the temperature will rise to warm and hot, with cloudy skies and scattered strong rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms in Campeche, Yucatán, and Quintana Roo; these could cause flooding. East and northeast winds of 10-25 km/h are expected in the region, with gusts of 40-60 km/h in stormy areas.

Meteorologist Juan Antonio Palma from Meteorología Yucatán notes that we start the week and welcome tropical wave No. 13, which will be interacting with upper-level divergence, giving rise to scattered strong storms and possible tornadoes. Take precautions.
