Rising Drug Dealing in Valladolid Prompts Police Crackdown

- November 22, 2024

The sale of drugs in small quantities is reportedly increasing in Valladolid, leading to multiple searches organized by the State Investigation Police (PEI).

On Thursday, Giovany G.M., known as “Huiro,” was arrested inside his mother’s house on 60th Street between 37th and 39th in the Bacalar neighborhood. Neighbors reported that the operation began at dawn and lasted until six in the morning, involving the Special Investigation Police (PEI), the Public Security Secretariat (SSP), and the Army.

Although authorities have not yet confirmed the details, it is presumed that a considerable amount of drugs was seized and the property secured. Approximately two months ago, the PEI conducted several searches in subdivisions and neighborhoods in Valladolid, resulting in the arrest of at least 15 people and the seizure of a large quantity of drugs. However, the main target in the Bacalar neighborhood managed to escape during that operation, with only one vehicle seized.

In addition to Giovany G.M.’s arrest, unofficial information suggests that some bars and taverns in Valladolid may be involved in drug trafficking. These operations are allegedly controlled by a person using nominees to manage them. The presence of foreign women in these establishments has also been noted, although their immigration status is unknown.

The Municipal Police stated that they do not have information on these events but will conduct investigations to delve deeper into the issue. Meanwhile, the Bacalar neighborhood remains a focal point for authorities due to ongoing operations related to drug sales.

Recent actions highlight the efforts of security forces to combat drug trafficking in Valladolid and restore peace to its residents. However, the details of the operation and the final results have not yet been officially disclosed.
