On December 24, isolated showers are expected, and on December 25, maximum temperatures will range from 30 to 35°C with intervals of showers.

Based on the Historical Records of the SMN, Nohalal, a district in the southern municipality of Tekax, holds the records for extreme minimum temperatures in Yucatán. The years with the coldest Christmas Eve in Yucatán from 2001 to 2021 are:

– 2009: 5°C on December 24

– 2007, 2008, 2012, 2020, 2021: 6°C

– 2004: 9°C

According to the Historical Daily Records of the SMN’s Meteorological Observatory in Mérida, the coldest Christmases in Mérida from 1951 to 2010 are:

– 1989: 11°C on both December 24 and 25

– 1994: 11.5°C

– 1972: 11.6°C

The coldest Christmas Eve in Mérida in the 21st century was in 2003, with 11°C, followed by 2007 with 15.8°C, and 2005 with 17.2°C.

Notable Cold Christmas in 2009

The cold front 20 in 2009 was responsible for the coldest Christmas in Yucatán, causing north winds of 30 to 40 km/h and forcing all ports to close to small navigation. Despite this, national tourists visited Progreso on December 25, with some even braving the cold sea.
