Deliverymen “invade” a house in Mérida: Bad joke or new scam?

117

For the second consecutive day, residents of a house in the Salvador Alvarado Sur neighborhood of Mérida have been inundated with deliverymen arriving to drop off packages that were never ordered.

This unusual situation, which began on Thursday, has raised concerns about whether it is a bad joke or a new scam targeting delivery workers. On Thursday, more than 50 deliverymen showed up at the house on 43rd Street, prompting the involvement of the Public Security Secretariat.

Neighbors reported on social media that on January 9, several deliverymen and even mariachis arrived at the house to offer their services and deliver products. However, the homeowners denied placing any orders.

The deliverymen, frustrated by the loss of their products, called the emergency number as the situation escalated. Public Security Secretariat and Cyber Police officers documented the events and began investigations. Despite this, the same scenario unfolded again on Friday.

Deliverymen Overwhelm Salvador Alvarado Home

Deliverymen arrived with orders for pizzas, hamburgers, groceries, and pharmacy products, only to find that the family had not placed any of these orders. Some neighbors and deliverymen bought the food to prevent waste, while others kept the orders. Many deliverymen left angry or disappointed due to the financial loss.

The homeowner reported the incident to authorities on Thursday, but new orders continued to arrive on Friday night.

TikToker Prank in Mérida?

Unofficial reports on social media suggest that a WhatsApp group is playing a prank on a TikToker who lives in the house. The orders have reportedly been placed from phone numbers in other states. Some deliverymen have even received threats in the name of well-known criminal groups, though these claims are met with skepticism.

The true nature of these pranks remains unclear, but they have undoubtedly caused financial losses for deliverymen and discomfort for the residents of the affected house.
