Investigation of a Presumed Femicide in the Mérida Metropolitan Area

A presumed femicide that occurred in an abandoned property in the Cuauhtémoc neighborhood of Kanasín, Yucatán, is currently under investigation.

An emergency call to the 9-1-1 number reported the discovery of a woman’s body, prompting immediate activation of protocols by the State Police (SSP) and the State Attorney General’s Office (FGE).

According to unofficial reports, the deceased woman was found semi-naked inside the mentioned residence. The cause of death remains unknown at this time, but neighbors revealed that the location is often used by people for consuming alcoholic beverages.

Further details indicate that a woman named Judith went to clean the property with a man named Ernesto N. Local residents mentioned that the man frequently brings different women to assist him with various tasks.

On Saturday morning, they noticed the door was open, entered, and found the lifeless woman lying semi-naked on the floor. Investigating officers located Judith’s husband, who confirmed that she had gone with Ernesto. The latter has already been detained for relevant investigations.

The State Police Investigation Unit (PEI) of the State Public Security Secretariat (SSP), in coordination with the State Attorney General’s Office (FGE), continues to advance in the investigation.
