A little over 6 hectares of land belonging to an ejido property in Chactún, in the municipality of Maxcanú, will be expropriated by the federal government for the construction of Tren Maya infrastructure.
This is yet another announcement by the Secretariat of Agrarian, Territorial, and Urban Development (Sedatu) involving the state of Yucatán. It was published in the evening edition of the Official Gazette of the Federation on Tuesday, May 21.
Sedatu indicated that the total compensation to the former owners amounted to 2 million pesos.
Furthermore, it was revealed that this land will be handed over to the majority state-owned company FONATUR Tren Maya S.A. de C.V. for the purpose of constructing railway infrastructure.
These expropriations throughout the last semester will contribute to one of President Andrés Manuel López Obrador’s flagship projects.”
