The newly elected governor of Yucatán, Joaquín “Huacho” Díaz Mena, has confirmed through social media that Luis Felipe Saidén Ojeda will continue to head the State Security Ministry (SSP) in the state.
“I would like to express my gratitude to Commander Luis Felipe Saidén for accepting my invitation to be the Secretary of Public Security in my administration,” wrote Díaz Mena on his social media account.
Saidén Ojeda has been at the helm of SSP in Yucatán for several years, and as such, he will continue in his position. This is not surprising, given that Díaz Mena announced earlier this month that Saidén would be part of his new cabinet.
Díaz Mena also mentioned that they will work together to ensure peace and tranquility for the people of Yucatán.
The governor-elect also discussed his plan of action in terms of security with Saidín Ojeda, which includes professionalizing police management, strengthening community vigilance, modernizing and investing in police equipment and systems, reinforcing the Centro Estatal de Evaluación y Control de Confianza (C3), and creating the Universidad de Ciencias para la Seguridad, Lic. Manuel Berzunza.
It is worth noting that Saidín Ojeda has been a stalwart presence in the SSP for many years, serving under previous governors including Ivonne Ortega Pacheco, Rolando Zapata Bello, and Mauricio Vila Dosal. Prior to his current role, he was head of the Secretaría de Protección y Vialidad (SPV) during the administration of Víctor Cervera Pacheco from 1995 to 2001.
