Around 6 am, the effects of Hurricane Beryl began to be felt, with stronger winds than rain.
As time passed, the storm intensified, and at times, its strongest gusts left trees on the floor.
By around 9 am, electricity and internet services were suspended.
At this point, it was very dangerous to go outside due to strong winds and heavy rain that had intensified just after 9 am.
Numerous power poles were knocked down, damaging the electrical infrastructure. Large trees could not withstand the force of the winds and fell.
Also, streets were flooded in various parts of the city, which remained without electricity and with intermittent phone and internet services until after 1 pm.
On their social media account “X”, the Yucatan State Civil Protection Coordination (PROCIVY) reported that due to the damages caused by Hurricane Beryl’s passage through Valladolid, a coordinated operation was carried out with authorities from the State Government, SSP, and Firefighters.
Additionally, elements of the Public Safety Secretary (SSP) assisted families in affected communities in the municipality hit by Beryl’s effects. No fatalities are reported so far.
