The company “Alston,” which has been providing services to the Tren Maya project, is actively recruiting personnel despite the train line being operational for seven months now. Specifically, they are looking for mechanical and electrical engineers with approximately 50 professionals needed for different points on the fourth section of the route that spans from Izamal to Cancún.
During a recruitment drive at the Casa de la Cultura yesterday in Valladolid, Yucatan, only a few people were seen inquiring about the available positions. According to Alston employees, the company is offering competitive salaries as part of their efforts to attract top talent for these roles. However, it appears that this approach has not yielded significant interest from potential candidates so far.
The reasons behind this lack of interest might be attributed to a shortage of mechanical and electrical engineering professionals in the city, leading Alston to consider hiring workers from other states. Fortunately, the recruitment process is nationwide, allowing applicants from across the country to submit their documents and undergo necessary assessments.
It’s worth noting that workers from the Federal Electricity Commission (CFE) are currently installing cable lines alongside the Tren Maya route, which spans from Mérida to Cancún. This development is in line with plans outlined by the 4T project, where sections five, six, and seven will run on electricity once completed, while the first four sections continue to use diesel power.
The completion of several station installations remains a pending task as part of the Tren Maya project’s ongoing efforts. Overall, Alston’s recruitment drive is an opportunity for qualified professionals in mechanical and electrical engineering to join their team and contribute to the advancement of this significant infrastructure development project.
