As of June, Yucatán achieved an employment rate of 98.3%, moving from fifth place to third among states with the best employment index. According to the results from the National Survey of Occupation and Employment (ENOE) conducted by the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (INEGI), Yucatán maintained the same employment rate as the previous month and slightly decreased compared to June 2023, which had a 98.6% employment rate.
Guerrero holds the highest employment rate at 99.5%, followed by Morelos (98.6%), Yucatán (98.3%), and Chiapas (98.3%). Veracruz and Michoacán also reached a high employment rate of 98.1%.
As of the first quarter of 2024, Yucatán’s economically active population (PEA) consists of 1,217,362 people, with 1,197,459 employed and 19,903 unemployed. The ENOE data for June shows that the PEA nationwide was 60.6 million people, with a participation rate of 59.8%. The non-economically active population (PNEA) totaled 40.7 million people, an increase of 706,000 compared to June 2023.
Within the PEA, 58.9 million people were employed (97.2%) in June, with 4.4 million of them being underemployed (7.5% of the employed population). The unemployment rate (TD) was 2.8% of the PEA, representing an increase of 84,000 unemployed individuals compared to June 2023.
