One of the most important travel and accommodation search and reservation platforms on the market has revealed that Mérida is on the list of the 10 global destinations of 2024 for travelers interested in visiting destinations to live memorable experiences.
The information indicates that Mérida is in that selection, according to Booking.com’s 2024 Travel Predictions research, the capital of Yucatán was placed on that list for its architecture and gastronomy with Mayan, Spanish and Caribbean influences.
The list is made up of some emerging places, such as Beppu (Japan), Buenos Aires (Argentina) and Portland (United States), among others.
The analysis of global booking trends placed Mérida among the 10 trending destinations, globally, to visit during 2024, due to the interest in its typical dishes, such as cochinita pibil, panuchos, lime soup, among others. Its architecture, its traditional streets, squares and parks.
According to Booking.com, the 10 trend destinations to discover in 2024 by world travelers were: Beppu, Japan; Buenos Aires, Argentina; Vlore, Albania; Merida, Mexico; Portland, Oregon, United States; Valkenburg, Netherlands; Chemnitz, Germany; Rotorua, New Zealand; Panglao, Philippines, and Cairns, Australia.
The Travel Predictions 2024 research was commissioned by Booking.com and conducted among a sample of adults who plan to travel for business or pleasure in the next 12-24 months.
