In the Chuburná de Hidalgo subdivision, a 60-millimeter active mortar grenade—a high-powered projectile—was reportedly found.

This incident activated a strong security operation by personnel from the National Defense Secretariat (Sedena) with the support of the Public Security Secretariat (SSP) of Yucatán.

During the early hours, neighbors from 13th Street x 20th of the mentioned colony alerted the fact with a call to the emergency number 911.

Versions from the neighbors indicate that the device was located by the security guard at the subdivision’s surveillance booth.

Another version circulating is that the grenade was found on the terrace of a property; so far, there is no official version of the events from Sedena.

The police officers moved to the place where they confirmed that it was an explosive and proceeded to inform the Army, who with the support of specialists in the handling of war material secured the device.
