This Thursday, alarms were raised at the Mérida International Airport due to the detention of a foreign individual who was carrying an arsenal of live ammunition of various calibers for long guns.

Information about the incident circulated on social networks. It involved the detention of Matthew Gunar P, who was found and captured in the waiting room of the air terminal by elements of the National Guard.

At the time of his arrest, he was found with a suitcase containing hundreds of live ammunition rounds of various calibers for long guns, which he intended to take out of the country. Upon discovery, emergency protocols were activated.

The detainee informed that he is originally from the United States. After being informed of the crime he was committing, he was made available to the authorities of the Attorney General’s Office (FGR) for the corresponding legal purposes.
