Tourists report salmonellosis outbreak at a hotel in Mérida

- May 15, 2024

A hotel in the center of Mérida has been accused of being responsible for an outbreak of salmonellosis affecting several foreign tourists. In response to this accusation, the Secretariat of Health intervened, but the results of their analysis and inspections at the site have not been disclosed yet.

The English academic Ettiene Von Bertrab reported that several of his fellow tourists fell ill with this condition, allegedly due to consuming food at the hotel. He called for an investigation into the matter.

While the Secretariat of Health has taken action, the hotel management denies that the tourists became ill there.

Regarding this situation, academic Von Bertrab requested that the hotel not only cover the medical expenses but also arrange return flights to their home countries for all his affected companions, who missed their flights due to illness.

As of now, there is no official information available on this delicate matter.
