Cecilia Patrón, the elected mayor of Mérida, will have a gender-balanced City Council, where women will play a prominent role, as 11 out of the 19 positions are allocated to them.
During a meeting, the elected councilors from the PAN and PRI received their certificates as members of the upcoming Mérida City Council and set guidelines to work for a unified Mérida where no one is left behind.
“The council will consist of 11 women out of the 19 positions, and there will be a gender-balanced cabinet. This is significant because when one woman arrives, we all arrive,” Patrón stated.
She emphasized that all women living in Mérida can consider her an ally, as she is committed to working toward a fair Mérida with more opportunities for everyone.
The council includes Maria Cristina Castillo Espinosa as the syndic; Edgar Ramírez Pech, Asís Cano Cetina, Juan de Dios Colli Pinto, Genny Palomo Méndez, Karla Bohem Calero, Gabriela Santinelli Recio, Angelica Mena Magaña, Juan Francisco Medina Sulub, and Paulina Sánchez Díaz.
