Maximum temperatures in Campeche, Quintana Roo, and Yucatán are expected to reach 40°C.
According to the National Meteorological Service (SMN), on Monday, a low-pressure channel is forecasted to extend over the peninsula and interact with tropical wave 4, resulting in heavy rains. In the Yucatán Peninsula, the sky is expected to remain partly cloudy to cloudy, with very heavy localized rainfall in Yucatán and strong localized rainfall in Campeche and Quintana Roo.
These precipitation events could be accompanied by lightning, possible hail, reduced visibility, and localized flooding.
Additionally, the SMN reports that the afternoon environment will be mild and warm, accompanied by eastward winds at 15 to 30 km/h, with gusts reaching 40 to 60 km/h.
For the rest of the week, the monsoonal trough is expected to remain close to the southern Mexican Pacific coast, interacting with upper-level divergence and the passage of two tropical waves south of the Yucatán Peninsula. These systems will cause strong to very heavy rainfall in the peninsula, as well as in the eastern, southern, and southeastern parts of the country. The monsoonal trough is likely to absorb both tropical waves.
On Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, intervals of showers with strong localized rainfall of 25 to 50 mm are forecasted for Campeche, Quintana Roo, and Yucatán. By Thursday, the chances of rain will decrease in Quintana Roo, with only intervals of showers expected.
During the three-day forecast period in the three states belonging to the Yucatán Peninsula, winds with gusts of 40 to 60 km/h are expected.
Finally, despite the rain, an increase in temperatures is anticipated in Quintana Roo, Campeche, and Cancún, with maximum temperatures ranging from 35 to 40°C.
