Yucatecos Clear Out Toilet Paper Ahead of Hurricane Beryl

This Sunday, Yucatecos flocked to supermarkets after learning that Hurricane Beryl was approaching the Peninsula. Instead of buying water, canned goods, or other emergency supplies, they quickly cleared out toilet paper.

On social media, images are circulating showing long lines in supermarkets and empty shelves of toilet paper.

This same situation occurred during the Covid-19 pandemic when even retailers rationed the sale of this product.

Beryl is still on course for the Peninsula and its effects are expected to begin felt this Thursday.
