Police Operation in Merida Leads to Safe Rescue of Kidnapped Teenager

In a significant operation carried out by the Secretariat of Public Security (SSP) in Mérida, three alleged kidnappers were apprehended on Saturday. The suspects, who had been operating out of Quintana Roo, are believed to be linked to the kidnapping of a 16-year-old minor in Cancún.

A collaborative effort by the SSP’s State Investigation Police (PEI), the Attorney General’s Office of Yucatán, and authorities from Quintana Roo resulted in the arrest of Erick Fernando L. P., José Armando I. G. (alias Muletas), and Fernando José H. de la C. The three suspects, aged between 25 and 33 years old, were originally from Yucatán, Campeche, and Tabasco.

The suspects were apprehended in eastern Mérida while traveling in a white Audi car with Morelos state plates, which was owned by the minor’s father. The coordinated effort between preventive and investigative police units, including the C5i Control Center and ministerial agents of the FGE, led to the safe rescue of the kidnapped teenager.

During their investigation, it was discovered that the alleged kidnappers had outstanding arrest warrants in Quintana Roo for aggravated kidnapping. The minor was safely returned to his parents, while the detainees were placed at the disposal of a control judge in Quintana Roo.
