INM detains five migrants from Egypt at the Mérida airport

- August 8, 2024

In recent days, 15 migrants have been arrested in Merida, in a ADO Bus terminal and at the airport. National Migration Institute (INM) personnel detained five undocumented Egyptians at the Merida airport, bringing the total number of people from that country detected during operations to 15.

On Monday, 10 men were retained by INM and National Guard (GN) staff near the foreign bus terminal and were taken to the migration institution’s facilities. According to data gathered on the same day, hours later another operation was conducted at the airport terminal, which is where the foreigners were hiding in the North sector, near the arrival passenger hall.

The undocumented individuals were detained and taken to a shelter in an INM bus. The operation continued into the night and morning of Tuesday at the airport, as it is suspected that more Egyptian citizens are trying to enter the United States through Mexico.

In social media, a poster with 54 photographs of various members of the Hamas terrorist group circulated, including some who participated in a massacre committed on October 7, 2023, along Israel’s border with Palestine, where a peace concert was being held between both countries.

It is said that people are being pursued by Nili, an elite unit of Shabak, equivalent to the FBI, to eliminate all participants in the October massacre, whether in Gaza or anywhere else in the world.
