On Monday, at least 10 foreigners who lacked proper documentation were detained at the ADO bus terminal on Calle 69, near downtown Mérida.
The nationalities of those individuals and their purpose for traveling to or through Mérida remain unclear. Authorities noticed a group of people from another country without valid documentation, prompting them to call in the Mexican National Guard.
Guard units arrived at the scene, alerting pedestrians before being joined by Immigration Institute vehicles. Ten men were taken into custody after being questioned and then transported to the Immigration Institute building in Mexico Colony, where their legal status will be determined, and further action decided upon.
