Immigration Authorities Detained 10 Undocumented Immigrants at ADO In Mérida

- August 6, 2024

At least 10 people from foreign countries, without documentation that would prove their legal stay in Mexico, were detained on Monday at the ADO bus terminal on 69th Street, near downtown Mérida.

So far, no information has been confirmed about the nationality of these individuals or whether they were arriving in Mérida or trying to leave the city.

Local authorities detected a group of foreigners at the bus terminal and, without having the necessary documentation, requested intervention from the National Guard. The arrival of several National Guard units caused alert among pedestrians.

Later, vehicles from the National Institute of Migration (INM) arrived. In total, 10 men were detained who, after being interviewed, were loaded onto INM trucks to be taken to the building in the Mexico neighborhood where their legal situation will be determined, and a decision made about how to proceed with them.

The intervention of the National Guard and INM was crucial in detaining these people and taking them to a place where their legal situation can be evaluated. The authorities will continue to investigate to determine the origin and reasons for the trip of these individuals.
