A tragedy struck the San Juan neighborhood in this municipality in the east of the State of Yucatan, when a 12-month-old girl lost her life by drowning in a local hotel’s pool.
The little girl, of French origin and resident of the Yalcobá community along with her parents, was found floating in the pool by her own father.
Preliminary reports indicated that the girl’s mother had gone out to run some errands, leaving her daughter under the care of the father.
However, the man fell asleep in bed with the little one. Upon waking up and not finding her, he began to search for her desperately but found her minutes later floating in a pool.
The father, in a desperate attempt to save his daughter, pulled her out of the water and tried to resuscitate her. He then took her to a nearby clinic in search of medical help. The area of the regrettable events was cordoned off while waiting for personnel from the State Attorney General’s Office to proceed with the investigations.”
