The partial collapse of the roof of a convenience store in Mérida, as well as flooded streets, were reported due to heavy rains that occurred yesterday afternoon in much of Yucatán.
The most intense rain was recorded in the city of Mérida, where the storm lasted nearly 45 minutes, resulting in floods areas in Centro.
Meteorologist Juan Antonio Palma, coordinator of Meteored México, announced that moments before the torrential rain began, 75 lightning strikes had already been recorded.
Meanwhile, elements of the Yucatán State Public Security Secretariat (SSP) and the fire department received a report of the partial collapse of the roof of a convenience store located on 121st Street at 136th Street in the Los Héroes neighborhood. Fortunately, no one was injured.
State police officers also assisted residents of the rural community of Tilohop in the municipality of Yaxcabá. They helped María Angelina D., an elderly woman whose home had been flooded.
Additionally, citizens reported water entering through the roof of a commercial plaza in the northern part of the city.
