A portion of the people from Chiapas who were rescued during operations conducted in various properties in Mérida have already been returned to their state of origin.
According to information provided by state authorities, the State Investigation Police (PEI), the State Attorney General’s Office (FGE), Civil Protection, PRODENNAY, and other state agencies ensured the safety of 20 individuals, including women and children. They were sent to a temporary shelter under the supervision of the Yucatán State Commission for Human Rights (CODHEY).
It was reported that most of the rescued individuals were returned to Chiapas, while a group of minors was sent to CAIMEDE due to having family members in the state.
Regarding this matter, CODHEY emphasized the need for inter-institutional coordination to address the suspected human trafficking situation generated by the arrival of people from other states, such as Chiapas, who work on the streets of Mérida.
The president of the autonomous organization, Miguel Sabido Santana, stressed that it is crucial to have a coordinated effort to address this situation.
