Engineer Benjamin Paredes Góngora, founder of Canteras Peninsulares and responsible for the construction of the first underpass crossing in Mérida, the first cable-stayed bridge in Yucatán, and the construction of the Puerto de Altura de Progreso, among other important projects in southeastern Mexico, has received the “Pilares de la Construcción en Yucatán” award from the Mexican Chamber of Construction (CMIC) delegation in Yucatán for his contributions to infrastructure development in the state and his participation in the sector.
This award is considered the highest recognition within the industry for his trajectory and dedication to construction. At an event held at the Fiesta Americana hotel, the CMIC president, Raúl Monforte Asís, recognized the honoree’s work and highlighted that, like the work he started from a young age, it serves as an example for new generations.
He also mentioned that the engineer has built numerous roads throughout his career and emphasized the support he provided to others who began in the sector.
Ironically, a power outage caused the El Paso Deprimido to flood again during yesterday’s rain.
The El Paso Deprimido in Mérida flooded again on Monday due to a power outage that prevented the pumps from operating. In this regard, David Enrique Loría Magdub, director of Public Works at the city hall, informed that a new plant will be installed next week that will not stop functioning despite recent failures.
He pointed out that due to the accumulation of rainwater in the area, the power outage occurred and as a result, the flooding in the El Paso Deprimido. However, he emphasized that vehicular traffic was not closed during the repair process.
