Cozumel will receive 11 cruises this week; new post-pandemic record

After reactivating the arrival of cruise ships to the island of Cozumel, with the proper health protocols required by the Covid-19 pandemic, this destination will have its largest number of floating hotels this week, in which 11 ocean liners are scheduled from 20 to September 26, reported the general director of the Comprehensive Port Administration of Quintana Roo (APIQROO), Alicia Ricalde Magaña.

He explained that the week began with the arrival of the Mardi Gras and Carnival Breeze cruises that arrived on Monday at the international pier “Puerta Maya”, located in the southern coastal area of ​​the island, while on Tuesday the floating hotel Independence will visit the destination. of the Seas that will dock at the SSA México terminal.

As for Wednesday, Alicia Ricalde Magaña explained that the ocean liners Celebrity Summit and Celebrity Edge will arrive at the island of Las Golondrinas, whose passengers will disembark at the SSA Mexico international cruise pier located along the southern coastal area.

He announced that Thursday will be the busiest day for the port of Cozumel, since four cruise ships will be arriving that will put into operation the three terminals that receive floating hotels on the island and that will allow the economic spill to reach several tourist areas of the destination. . 

He explained that the cruise ships Carnival Dream and Carnival Vista will arrive at the “Puerta Maya” dock; The Odyssey of the Seas will arrive at the SSA Mexico terminal and at “Punta Langosta” which is in the first square of the city, the area with the most shops that depend on the income left by visitors, there will be a visit to the floating hotel MSC Divine

The CEO added that on Friday the Carnival Glory cruise ship will arrive at “Puerta Maya” and the Carnival Breeze will arrive in the same terminal on Saturday, while on Sunday there will be no cruise ship activity, closing this week with a total of 11 ocean liners.
