Two Yucatecan lawyers, Felipe de Jesús U. C. and Sergio Alberto S. P., were released from prison and then re-detained for the same crimes. They had been arrested on Tuesday after leaving the Social Rehabilitation Center (CERESO) in Mérida, where they had been admitted a few days earlier for the same reasons.
Elements of the Public Security Secretariat (SSP), assigned to the State Investigation Police (PEI) in coordination with the State Attorney General’s Office (FGE), executed an arrest warrant issued by a control judge, according to a press release.
Felipe de Jesús U. C., 43, and Sergio Alberto S. P., 44, both lawyers, were denounced again for allegedly deceiving people into signing blank papers, which they used to create a false promissory note worth 170,000 pesos in November 2015. The same modus operandi as the previous occasion.
According to investigations and evidence obtained, Felipe de Jesús U. C. filed a commercial lawsuit in June 2018, presenting the fake promissory note and in August 2022, the judge ruled in his favor, ordering the seizure and auction of a property belonging to one of the victims.
Both individuals were placed at the disposal of the control judge to continue the criminal process that is being followed against them.
